Mr. James "Jim" Waites

TALLADEGA — Mr. James "Jim" Waites, 55, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be at Talladega Funeral Home Sunday, October 18, 2009, a t 2 p.m. with the Reverend Keith Owensby officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Jim was an Alabama State Certified concrete batchman, plant manager, a PADI diving instructor and a certified and licensed gunsmith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman but most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim is survived by his wife, Wanda Waites; one daughter, Jasmin Waites; three sisters, Evelyn Waites, of Talladega, Audrey Gilley and husband, Barnard, of Marietta, Ga. and Freddie Nell Jones, of Talladega; two brothers, The Rev. John Waites and wife, Janice and Dan Waites and wife, Martha; two nieces, Sonya Yates and husband, Alan with children Maggie and Mary Grace and Lennis Waites and seven nephews, Brian Gilley and wife, Becky with son Devin, of Marietta, Ga., Jason Jones, John Ed Waites with wife, Amber and daughter Macy, Cole Waites and wife, Crystal with daughter, Presley, Tyler Waites with wife, Alecia, The Rev. Phillip Bone and wife, Eva and daughter Alana, of Covington, Ga. and Patrick Bone, of Ashland, Ala. The following men will serve as pallbearers, Brian Gilley, Jason Jones, Alan Yates, John Ed Waites, Cole Waites, Tyler Waites, The Rev. Phillip Bone and Patrick Bone. The men serving as honorary pallbearers include all employees of Waites Concrete and Construction, Buster Braswell, Cliff Sanders, Ken Shaddix and Russ Morse. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.
