Our Lord has called Janie Louise Baird Stedham home. Louise was born March 11th, 1930, in Anniston, Alabama. She passed away on November 6th, 2025. Her parents, William Pace Baird and Lee Oma Leslie Baird, sister Edna Ruth Baird, her loving husband, Mayor W. Gene Stedham; her smiling son, Gary Beecher Stedham; and her devoted daughter, Sherry Stedham Hamilton (Bill) preceded her to heaven. Her daughter, Teri Stedham Powell (Lionel James Powell) and her son-in-law Captain William C. Hamilton Jr. (Sherry) are left to cherish her memory. Louise and Gene were blessed with five grandchildren: Ashley Stedham Mitchell (Darren), Jim Powell (Kelly), Tyler Powell (Laura), Haley Hamilton Watson (Chris) and Holly Hamilton Klug (Ryan). They were further blessed with 14 great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Louise was loved by many and will be deeply missed. She graduated from Anniston High School in 1948 and married the love of her life, Gene Stedham, on August 19th, 1950. They celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage until his passing in 2018. As a child, she attended Noble Street Baptist Church until 1967, when her family transferred their membership to Parker Memorial Baptist Church. She remained a faithful member of Parker Memorial from 1967 to the present. In 2015, Gene and Louise moved to Cullman, Alabama, to live with Teri and Lionel Powell, and during her residency in Cullman she attended First Baptist Church. Louise lived a life marked by devotion to her faith, her family, and her community. She loved singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, volunteering for Vacation Bible School, and caring for her three children and the many friends who filled their home. She retired after 20 years of dedicated service with Sears & Roebuck, where she worked from 1968-1988. We rejoice that she is now at peace in the loving arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with her loved ones in heaven. A graveside service was held at Highland Cemetery in Anniston, Alabama on Monday November 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Bro. Mack Amis officiated.
