Our dearly loved mother, grandmother, and Gigi, Kathryn Sue Aide, passed away in Plano, TX on July 7, 2021 just a week shy of her 91st birthday. In truly poetic fashion, she joined her husband of 57 years in heaven on his birthday.
Born July 14, 1930 in Hebbronville, TX, Kathryn graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1952 where she met her husband, Fouad Khalil Aide. She spent her adult life as a military wife and mother to four children, traveling the country and experiencing all this world has to offer. Together with her family, she lived in Texas, Washington, Alaska, Georgia, Florida and for many years in Jacksonville, Alabama.
Kathryn and Fouad were deeply ingrained in their community in Jacksonville and were loved like family by many fellow community members. Kathryn worked for many years as a librarian at the MP school library at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Her last position was as Head Librarian at the MP Hospital library, where she assisted all medical personnel with any research.
After retirement, she and Fouad were able to enjoy their greatest passion, which was to travel. As she loved adventures, together they visited numerous countries in her lifetime including Egypt, The Gambia, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Germany, Montecarlo, England and Spain with her last trip, at the age of 89, visiting Florence, Italy and the Tuscan countryside.
Kathryn spent the past three years living in Plano, TX, with her eldest daughter, Barbara, where she enjoyed walking the neighborhood, video calling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being stuck at home during the COVID-era and unable to travel, she enjoyed watching her favorite shows like Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons, catching up on the latest episodes of Law & Order: SVU and playing her favorite smartphone games, like Bejeweled and Tetris. She was also an avid book reader.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Fouad, and eldest son, Lewis G. Aide. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Barbara Aide of Plano, TX, Daniel and Holly Aide of Springfield, VA, and Linda and Carmelo D'Anzi of Florence, Italy; six grandchildren and their spouses, Adam Sifuentes, Amanda and Timothy Villarreal, Raina Aide, Alessandra D'Anzi, Nicolo and Zahra D'Anzi, and Isabella D'Anzi; and two great-granddaughters Ava and Luna Villarreal.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date in Jacksonville, Alabama.
