Linda Balch Obituary
Linda Kay was born to John Andrew and Edna Irene (Weatherly) Balch of Bedford, on Feb. 19, 1948. She was the first born of five children. The family moved to Atlantic, when Linda was in 10th grade and was in the Atlantic High School Class of 1966. She continued her education at the Americana Academy of Beauty in Des Moines, graduating in 1967. Over the years she worked as a hairdresser at Highway Beauty Salon, Goody's Tip Top Salon, Hair Emporium and Illusions. Linda retired in 2004, and will be remembered by her customers for her relaxing pedicures.
Linda's had a deep unwavering faith, reading her Bible often and worshiped at the Atlantic Gospel Chapel and the Sunnyside Bible Chapel. Some of Linda's favorite interests included: crocheting doilies, counted cross stitch, Sudoku puzzles, origami and watching and writing down the recipes on cooking shows.
Linda is survived by her sister, Margaret (Rick) Norman of Stevensville, Mont.; brother, Randy Balch of Oskaloosa; sister-in-law, Jocey Balch of Atlantic; nieces and nephews, Toby Norman and his children, Kensley, Connor and Caden of Puerto Rico, Stephanie (Jason) Holley and their children, Kalista and Kyler of Bridgeport, Texas, Melissa Balch and her children, Corbin, RJ and Mason of Atlantic, Shane (Lucy) Balch of San Antonio, Texas, Bethany (Pablo) Calderon and their children, Carolina and Camilla of Brasov, Romania and Jason Humphrey of Solon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Balch, sister, Nancy Balch, brother, Mike Balch and nephew, Andrew Norman.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage House and Cass County Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26 at the Athelstan Cemetery, southeast of Bedford.
