Graveside services for Mrs. Louise Franklin Marbut, 79, of Jacksonville, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Jacksonville. Mrs. Marbut passed away at home on July 19, 2021, with family at her side. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil Marbut and her parents, Homer and Elizabeth Franklin. Mrs. Marbut is survived by her sons, Tyler Marbut and Wade Marbut and his wife, Michele; grandchildren, Cortnee Marbut, Chance Marbut, and Graham Marbut; and a brother, Michael Franklin. Mrs. Marbut was a resident of Jacksonville and was a lifelong educator, mentor, and coach. She had an everlasting impression on her students and players, pushing them to reach their potential. Always a competitor, she coached basketball, gymnastics, tennis, track and field, and cheerleading. She achieved her greatest success as a volleyball coach, wherein she was inducted into the Alabama High School Hall of Fame and Calhoun County Sports Hall of Fame. She retired from coaching in 1992 with five state championships and an overall record of 600-195. Mrs. Marbut was a voracious reader, possessed a keen, sharp sense of humor, and never backed down from a challenge. She retired from The Donoho School. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Calhoun County Humane Society located at 1201 Parkwood Drive, Anniston, Alabama. K.L.
