Otha Burton, Jr.

Funeral service for Otha Burton, Jr. 86, will be Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11 am at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Heflin with Rev. Stacy Hill, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Heflin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burton passed away on April 25, 2024 at Cleburne County Nursing Home. Mr. Burton's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. He graduated from Heflin Training School. He retired from the U S Army Airborne Division. He later gained employment at Anniston Army Depot, Anniston Public Library, Walmart and lastly Sam's Club where he worked until 2020. He had a way of bringing laughter and joy to everyone that knew him. From his quick-witted jokes to his exuberant character, Otha was a true gem in the lives of those who knew him. Survivors include his children: Marcella Henson, Penelope Burton, and Alan (Laishonda) Burton; his sisters: Bennie (Ree) Fitzpatrick,and Audrey Houston; grandchildren: Candi (Gabrielle) Momon, Briana (Roger) Hurst, Alan Burton Jr.; 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his former wife Lester Redford and friends.
