Funeral service for Peggy Key, 88, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Owens, dear family friend, Josh Forrest and Associate Pastor Braydenton McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Key passed away Saturday at her residence after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Belcher, of Mobile, Janice Bradley (Dan), of Atlanta, Ga., Dennis A. Key, Kimberly Spruiell and Jennifer Key, all of Anniston; daughter-in-law, Belinda Key; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and her sister, Laverne Champion. She is preceded in death by her husband, S. L. "Bud" Key, and her sons, Larry Jerome Key and Kenneth Wayne Key. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Key, Drew Key, Drake Key, Denton Key, Daniel Key, and Christian Acosta. She was a longtime member of the Hope Sunday School Class at Leatherwood Baptist Church and volunteered as a Pink Lady at RMC. Her earlier career was arranging flowers at Woolworths which led to her love of gardening, which she passed to her children. She loved ballroom dancing and had a love of music starting at an early age playing the violin. She had a beautiful alto voice and regularly sang solos while a member at Mamre Baptist Church.
