Richard Miller Christopher

Funeral services for Richard Miller Christopher, 86, will be Monday, March 4, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville with Ministers Dr. John Holloway and Dr. Derek Staples officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville City Cemetery with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Jacksonville directing services. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1-2:30 p.m. Dr. Christopher died Thursday, February 28, 2013, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. He is survived by his three children, Wendy Christopher Seesock and her husband, Lance, of Auburn, Laura Christopher Martin and her husband, Montgomery of Memphis, Tenn. and Richard Miller Christopher Jr. and his wife, Belinda, of Marianna, Fla.; six granddaughters, Anna Seesock Langston (Ethan), of Memphis, Tenn., Lauren Ashley Martin, of Birmingham, Neile Elizabeth Martin, of Chicago, Ill., Cori Caitlin Christopher, of Atlanta, Ga., and Alexandra Greer Christopher and Erin Ann Christopher, of Marianna, Fla.; one great-granddaughter, Madeline Martin Langston, of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Samuel Emmett Christopher (Yvonne), of Nashville, Tenn. and Neil Edward Christopher (Carolyn), of Guntersville, and brother-in-law, Bud Cranford of El Paso, Texas. Pallbearers will be Sonny Bishop, Bob Bishop, Bubba Bishop, Trey Bishop, Will Bishop, Lance Seesock, and Montgomery Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gleaners Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Dr. Christopher was born in Lee County, Alabama and was a graduate of Crossville High School. He was raised on the Auburn University Agricultural Experiment Station in Crossville where his father served as superintendent. He was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of Auburn University and Emory University dental school. He and his wife Martha Ann served the people of Jacksonville and Calhoun County in the dental practice for over 43 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and had resided in Auburn since the death of Martha Ann in 2010.
