Rodney L. McMillian

A celebration of life for Rodney L. McMillian, 65, of Anniston, was held, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00pm at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Interment was in Forestlawn Garden. A public viewing was held on, Friday, October 24, 2025, from 3pm-7pm at the funeral home. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home-Anniston. Rodney L. McMillian, the loving son of Elgin McMillian, Jr. and Ann Jacobs McMillian, was born on September 27, 1960, in Anniston, Alabama. Rodney received his formal education in the Calhoun County School System and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1979. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. A veteran of the United States Army, Rodney served honorably and with distinction, embodying courage and commitment. His military service was a cornerstone of his character and a source of pride so much, he returned to the United States military as a member of the National Guard and served for over twenty years. Rodney was a vibrant spirit who was the life of the party at every gathering displaying his many dance moves or singing a favorite song. He was a talented trumpet player and often shared his gift with family and friends. Rodney's skills extended beyond music. He had a remarkable ability to build anything with his hands, creating beautiful pieces for loved ones and friends. Rodney also enjoyed traveling with his devoted wife and cheering his favorite team, the Auburn Tigers, through every game. On Friday, October 17, 2025, Rodney McMillian completed his earthly journey and transitioned from labor to rest. He was preceded in death by his daughter, LaSonya Crook; sister, Phyllis D. McMillian; brothers, Elgin McMillian, III and Curtis McMillian; grandparents, Elgin McMillian, Sr., Frances McMillian, and Annie Ruth Levi. Rodney's memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife of 34 years, Gwendolyn McMillian; sons, Anthony (Yolanda) Crook, Anthony Hutchinson, and Ronnie Hutchinson; daughter, Tiffany (KT) McCain; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Thomas Jennifer) McMillian; sister, Rinkie Almon; brother-in-law, Gregory Pope; and a host of other family members and friends.
