Rosetta Bowie Obituary

Anniston - Funeral services for Mrs. Rosetta Bowie, 97, of Anniston, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church (1300 Parkwood Drive) with The Reverend LaNoah Ealy officiating. Interment will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Her remains will be at the church today, August 5, 2011, from noon until 6 p.m. for public visitation. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the church. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters as flowerbearers. Mrs. Bowie passed away at Regional Medical on Monday, August 1, 2011. She is survived by two sons, Curtis (Faye) Bowie, and Clarence Bowie, both of Anniston; two daughters, Rosa (Hugh) Buchanan, Alberta (Zebedee) Freeman, both of Anniston; two daughters-in-law, Bessie Bowie and Betty K. Bowie, of Anniston; one sister, Adlonia White, of Cleveland, Ohio; one daughterly niece, Jessie Bowie, of Anniston; one loving caregiver, Inez Nail, of Anniston; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The following loved ones preceded her in death: husband, Willie Bowie; one daughter, Sallie Franklin; four sons, Willie James Bowie, Arthur Bowie, Roosevelt Bowie, and Andrew Bowie; and one daughter-in-law, Emelda Bowie. Mrs. Bowie and her family moved to the Anniston area in 1948 from Lowdnes County, Alabama. An active member of the Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church as long as physically able, she was a renown member of her community. Model City Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
