A memorial service for Mrs. Sybil Herring Owen, 87, of Jacksonville, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at K.L. Brown Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Chaplain Jim Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Owen passed away August 27, 2021 in Jacksonville. Mrs. Owen absolutely loved children and taught at the Jacksonville Day Care for close to 20 years. She was a long-time resident of Jacksonville. Mrs. Owen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and the Grace Sunday School Class. She was a talented and gifted seamstress. This began as a hobby and soon turned into a profession. Mrs. Owen was a fan of vintage movies. She will be remembered for her most important role in life as a mother and grandmother. Mrs. Owen is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lee Owen; a son, Joseph Lee Owen; son-in-law, Giles Francis Crider; and sister, Eloise Herring Sibert. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Owen Crider; grandsons, Joseph Walker Owen and Benjamin Geron Owen; daughter-in-law, Leila Walker Burkett; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
