William Riley Williams, a longtime resident of DeArmanville and Golden Springs, died June 1, 2017, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston after a short hospital stay and longer illness. Bill was born July 15, 1931, in Grayson Ky. to Mary Nancy Riley Williams and Edward Johnson Williams, both of DeArmanville. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters, Mary Laura Williams Rhodes (Jacksonville) and Coralie Leah Williams Hansen (DeArmanville) and his brothers, John E. (Dothan), Robert B. (DeArmanville), George G. (Athens, Ohio) and Mitchell (Anniston). He is survived by his daughter, Martha Williams Carbone and her husband Tim, from Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pa.; brothers, Eugene J. Williams (Golden Springs) and Paul E. Williams, (Hazel Green), and nieces and nephews. After graduating from Calhoun County High School (Oxford) in 1949, he served in the Navy and received a Fleet Appointment to the Naval Academy at Annapolis Maryland. Later, he served in the Army prior to attending Alabama Polytechnic Institute in Auburn. Interment will be in a private service requested by family at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Golden Springs.
