1944 - 2021

A memorial service for Mr. Willie James McKinney Sr., 77, of Oxford, Alabama will be at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at K.L Brown Memory Chapel, 620 Golden Springs Road, Anniston Alabama. The family will receive relatives and guests from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
An inurnment will be at 1:15 pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115. Attendees will need to be at the front gate of the cemetery at 1:00 pm, but no earlier than 12:30 pm.
Mr. McKinney was born in Vincent, Alabama to Walter McKinney and Pearlie Mae Datcher (Wallace) on February 27, 1944. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for over twenty years until he retired as a Non-commissioned officer. After retirement from the military, Willie settled in Oxford, Alabama with his wife Rhonda McKinney and their sons Terrance and Dontrell, where he had a long and successful second career as a truck driver. Willie was retired when he was called home on June 21, 2021. Willie was a man who never met a stranger. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember him as a man who loved to have a good time. He had a host of friends all over the world and was always ready for a game of spades or dominoes. His charisma, charm, and hearty laugh will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Rhonda McKinney; daughter, Melanie Neely; parents, Walter McKinney and Pearlie Mae Datcher (Wallace).
Willie is survived by his sons, Willie J. McKinney Jr. (Raquel), Terrance McKinney, and Dontrell McKinney; daughters, Camellia McKinney Jackson (Michael) and Christy Walker (Willie); grandchildren, Britaney McKinney, Omari McKinney, Laiya McKinney, Alexander Jackson, Maxwell Jackson, Tiere Curry, Shynece Grinnage, Teyanna McKinney, Taejanna McKinney, Nijah McKinney, Sterling McKinney, Ashawnie McKinney, Kilyh McKinney, Zayan McKinney, Isaiah Walker, and Aaliyah Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
