AGE: 95 • Manahawkin

Anthony D. Abenante, 95, of Manahawkin, passed Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015. Born in Brooklyn in 1920, he lived 40 years in Richmond Hill, Queens and 20 years in Manahawkin, NJ. He worked for the NYC Transit Authority for 35 years as a Railroad Clerk and is a US Army veteran of WWII. Anthony loved music, needlepoint work, carpentry, golf, books, traveling and his family and his Simone.

Predeceased by his mother, Filomena; his sister, Jennie and his sister-in-law, Bernadette, he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Simone; daughter, Michele; sister, Mary; brother-in-law, Serge; two nieces, three nephews and two great nephews.

Viewing Fri., Sept. 4 from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary of The Pines Church, Manahawkin. Mass to follow at 11 a.m., with entombment in St. Mary's Cem., Manahawkin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Mary's Church, PO Box 609, Barnegat, NJ 08005. Barnegat Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.
