Arthur Czugh Obituary
AGE: 87 • Port Monmouth
Arthur Joseph Czugh, 87, a longtime resident of Port Monmouth passed away Wednesday, June 3rd, after a year-long fight against cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Arthur was the son of Hungarian immigrants John and Matilda Czugh. Arthur attended Brooklyn Technical High School, along with his twin brother John, graduating in 1946. Arthur worked for a few years after high school in Brooklyn as an apprentice to a clockmaker. However, on family vacations to Port Monmouth, Arthur met his future wife, Janet Wackar, and found his new home. Arthur and Janet married in 1950, and celebrated 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2004. Arthur is survived by his three caring children; Gary, Richard (Donna) and Kathryn (Mark) Decaroli. Arthur is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Arthur was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving stateside from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. Honorably discharged, Arthur returned to Port Monmouth and his work as a civilian machinist at the US Army Signal Research and Development Lab at the US Army Electronics Command (USAECOM) at Fort Monmouth. During his career spanning four decades, Arthur worked on communications satellite development among other key projects. After retirement, he devoted some years to his woodworking hobby creating furniture and craft items still being used by his family today. A devoted husband, father and member of the community, Arthur will be missed.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Friday from 6-9 pm and again Saturday from 10 -11 am at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The burial and committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
