Barbara Barnwell Obituary

Barbara Barnwell

Oceanport - Barbara Lynn Barnwell, 74, of Oceanport, New Jersey entered eternal rest peacefully surrounded by each and every one of her family members. Barbara was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on May 29th, 1943 to the late Charles and Naomi Davis.

She moved with her parents to Highland Park, New Jersey where she met and married her soul mate Edwin H. Barnwell on February 23rd, 1963. They were blessed with three children and ten grandchildren. "Barb" and "Ed" shared their lives over fifty five years of marriage. They were the love of each other's lives. Barbara was a very special lady, who was loved by each and every person who had the privilege of knowing her. She was known and loved by all because of who she was and what she stood for.

Barbara chose being a wife and a mother as her life's purpose and was blessed with three incredible and loving children. Barbara was known for her immaculate and ever beautiful style, class, and sophistication. Sweets were ready for all who came to visit. Her famous "ice tea", eggies in a cup, poached eggs, and German spaghetti will be passed down to keep her memory alive as a loving home maker. Each and every day, all she did was love her family big.

We will always treasure and remember her love of shopping, lunches at Richards, always having her lips on, standing nail appointments at Superstar Nails with her granddaughter Samantha and favorite nail guy, Vinny, and her ever classic style. Barbara's most precious gift and the true purpose she lived for each and every day were her beloved ten grandchildren. They made her life complete, and in turn their lives will forever be a more beautiful place for having her in it. She will forever be in their hearts, and as promised they will take her with them to every special moment. She will never be left behind. Her love and beautiful spirit will be carried by all, especially during the summers spent at their beach home in Lavallette.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents and her loving dogs Brandy, Maggie, and Chloe. She is survived by her husband Edwin H. Barnwell and loving children; Elizabeth (Betsey) Barnwell Bertoldo and her husband Christopher P. Bertoldo, Edwin H. Barnwell Jr. and his wife Jennifer (Jenny) Kwalek Barnwell and Michael Barnwell and his wife Sarah (Sassy) Strife Barnwell. Finally, her adoring grandchildren, Samantha, Edwin III, Delaney, Jack, Katelyn, Grace, Michael, Jake, Megan, and Connor.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 6th at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, 72 Riverdale Ave on March 7th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a burial at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to charities Barbara especially cared for, either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn: Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 and or Memorial-Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O.
