Bernard Fleming Obituary
AGE: 82 • Keyport
Bernard T. "Bernie" Fleming, 82, a 42 year Keyport resident, died peacefully at home early Sunday morning, Dec. 29, 2013. He was born in South Amboy to Thomas and June (Biesiada) Fleming and was raised in Morgan. Bernie honorably served his country as a Marine in the Korean War from 1952 to 1955 receiving the Korean PUC, China service medal, Korean service medal, UN service medal and National defense service medal. He was a retired ironworker for Local #373 in Perth Amboy.
Bernie is predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Joanna Fleming. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rita (Reszkowski) Fleming; his children, Bernard and wife Tammy of Manahawkin, Robert and wife Kim of Barnegat, Patrick and wife Katie of Cliffwood Beach, Christine Muller and husband Christopher of Freehold and Carol Sereda and husband Jon of Old Bridge; brothers, Robert of South River and Daniel of Old Bridge; sisters, Mary Jane Friedman of Old Bridge and Edwina Jones of Boise, ID; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and his faithful pet, Bonnie.
A graveside service including military honors will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet. All are welcome to meet at cemetery at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernie's memory to Jersey Shore Workcamp-Home Repair Mission Project, 1870 Highway 35, Middletown, NJ 07748.
