Bob Erdman

AGE: 65 • Somerville

Bob Erdman, 65, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011. Bob was born and raised in Newark and resided in Hillside before moving to Somerville in 1995. He was employed by Prudential Financial Inc. in Newark for over 25 years, retiring as Director, Compliance in 2002. Bob continued working in retirement for John Wiley and Sons in the IT Department. He graduated from Kean University in Union with a BS and MA degree in Organizational Psychology. He was a member of the Somerville Elks and the Central Jersey Chamber of Commerce, formerly of Plainfield. Bob enjoyed photography, camping and traveling in his spare time. Bob looked forward during the holiday season to dressing up and being called Santa. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Amy Beals Erdman, two sons, Kevin and his wife Lisette and Christian and his wife Karyn, a brother, Glen and a sister, Lynn Marie Kimmerle and four grandchildren, James, Veronica, Ryan and Caitlyn.

Funeral Services will be 12 noon Tuesday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 North Gaston Ave. Somerville 908-725-311. Visitation will be 6-9pm Monday at the funeral home. Donations can be made to St Hubert's Giralda Animal Shelter, 3201 Route 22 East, North Branch, NJ 08876. To send condolences to the family, visit www.brucecvanarsdalefuneralhome.com.

Not a day goes by we don´t think of Bob or mention him in a conversation and how he touched our lives with his kindness, humor and great nature. We miss you very much our true friend!

Our lives were so enriched with having known you. There will never be anyone like you. What a wonderful friend... always there for us in good times and bad. Memories of our time spent together with you and Amy will live on in our hearts forever. You are so loved Bob and we will miss you terribly.

Bob, what a great friend and wonderful person. You were taken from us too soon. We will forever cherish all the fun times and laughs together. You will be greatly missed by our family and many. Thank you for putting smiles on everyones faces at Christmas time. We all know how much you enjoyed every minute. You were and always will be a true Santa! May you rest in peace my dear friend.

Bob was a great and wonderful person. He took the experiences of a difficult childhood, and used them to develop a positive outlook. That was his gift to all of us. I know that his family, and in particular his wife and brother, felt truely blessed to have him in their lives.
