Carl Stanick Obituary

Carl Stanick

Lanoka Harbor - Carl A. Stanick, age 70, of Lanoka Harbor, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.

Carl was born in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of five, he and his family moved to Iceland, where he lived until the age of twelve. Iceland was always in Carl's heart.

Carl was a teacher, and he loved his kids. He taught for many years at the Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment center in Farmingdale and then took a position as a Special Education teacher at the Goetz School in Jackson. The annual Thanksgiving feasts put on by Carl and his class and staff are still remembered with fondness.

Carl loved soccer and played in his teens up until his thirty's; he played for the Ocean County Men's Team for many years and will be remembered as number "Tree". He also loved surf fishing, particularly on Island Beach State Park.

He was a natural storyteller, as anyone who knew him can attest to; one of his best was "The Lighthouse Keeper and the Codfish Lunch"!

Carl was a good man and will be greatly missed.

Carl is survived by his wife of 35 years, Audrey (nee Steinitz), a son Joshua, a daughter Alison, and her partner, Adam; granddaughters Nora and Evelyn. He is also survived by his sister, Marylou; brother Joseph, brother Richard and his wife Anna Marie, and brother David. Carl also leaves behind many beloved friends and family members.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday January 29th, 2021 from 3-5pm at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9, Forked River. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children C/O Donor Relations 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.

Remembering Carl is easy to do. My fishing buddy and soccer teammate. The times we shared and the stories we told each other, live on in my memories. He was a good soul and a great man with the most interesting life story. I miss his stories, especially the ones he hadn't told yet. I miss him. I hope the Stanick family is finding some comfort knowing Carl is remembered by all the friends we shared. May he continue to Rest in Peace.
