CARMELA TORCHIA
WEST LONG BRANCH
Carmela Perri Torchia, age 95, of West Long Branch died on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. She was a parishioner of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church of West Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she was a life resident of the shore area.
Lena was predeceased by her husband, Saverio Torchia in 1987; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Torchia in 2001. Surviving is a son, Anthony Torchia of Ocean; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Norman Deitch of Ewing; two sisters, Sue Santanello of Long Branch and Angelina Merriman of Long Branch; three grandchildren, Michael Deitch, Jennifer Van Keuren, and Jacqueline Deitch-Stackhouse; and five great-grandchildren, Kathryn Deitch, William Deitch, Matthew Stackhouse, Jared Stackhouse, and Jason Van Keuren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave, on the corner of Third Ave, Long Branch. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a 11 a.m. Mass at St. Jerome Church. Entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, 3300 Route 66, Neptune, NJ 07753.
