CHARLES O. THIEL
AGE: 82
FORMERLY OF WHITING
Charles O. Thiel, 82, of Allentown, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown, Pa. He was the husband of Gisela Thiel; they were married for 49 years on Jan. 30. He was a warehouse manager at Wholesale Retail Tobacco and Candy Company in Perth Amboy until retiring. Born in Lakewood, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna ( Gruener ) Thiel. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Charles F. Thiel and his wife Annette E. Thiel of Allentown, Pa.; a daughter, Monica Thiel of Silver Spring, Md.; and two grandchildren, Alexis and Andrew.
You may call from 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5 until the funeral service at 10 a.m. at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts., Allentown, Pa. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Care Alternatives Hospice, 501 Office Center Drive, Suite 285, Fort Washington, PA 19034.

Dear Gisella and family,

Sorry to hear of Charlie's passing, but there is much comfort in knowing where he has passed to. We can rest in the knowledge that we will see him again. I remember him by his smile.

I did not know Charles personally, but I knew his mother, Anna. I called her Aunt Anna. She mentioned Charles often. My sympathies to the entire Thiel family. May Charles be reunited with his wonderful mother, Aunt Anna who was a dear friend to not only the Haut family, but also the entire Lakewood Jewish community.
