Charles Traina

AGE: 71 • formerly of Surf City

Charles (Charlie) Traina, beloved husband of Patti Traina, passed away suddenly on June 27, 2016 in North Fort Meyers, Florida. Charlie was born and raised on Staten Island, New York. He resided in Surf City New Jersey and relocated to Florida after his retirement in October 2016. He was an alumnus of Curtis High School Class of 1962. Charles was one of New York's Finest from 1967-1984. He was assigned to the Patrol Borough Staten Island/Robbery Suppression Unit. He received the medal of valor for saving his partner's life in the line of duty. After his retirement from the Police Force he resided in Surf City New Jersey where he and his spouse became Real Estate Agent's, ultimately he moved up to Broker/Manager. He was employed by Bay Shore Agency on Long Beach Island, Beach Haven office, New Jersey until October 2015.

Charlie was a member of the Police Benevolent Association, recently joined the Blue Knights Harley Motorcycle Club- Cape Coral Florida Chapter, the Jersey Shore 10-13 Club for retired NYPD officers, and the Ocean County Board of Realtors. He was also caretaker of his mother, Pauline Traina for 14 years when she passed at the age of 96.

Charles leaves behind his wife and best friend of 38 years Patricia. He was the loving father of Paula Moscatelli, Karin Kuhens, Diane Traina, Michelle Bienes, Christine Conanan and Charles Traina Jr. He was also the step-father of Candace Blanda and Alison Reibaud. He was the proud Poppy of 10 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. Charlie was the brother of Louise Padavano and Donna Traina. He was pre-deceased by his parents; Joseph and Pauline Traina. He will be greatly missed by his constant companions, his Bichon Frises's: Boggie & Bacall.

Charlie enjoyed boating, traveling, taking cruises with his wife and riding his Harley Davidson. He was an avid New York Giants fan. He was a friend to many. His quick wit, sense of humor and generous personality brought a smile to everyone's face.

Please join us on Wednesday, July 13th, 3pm at St. Thomas Church located on Long Beach Blvd, Surf City, NJ to celebrate Charlie's life. In Lieu of flowers: Tom Gravagna 22168 Lancaster Avenue, Port Charlotte, Florida 33952. Please make checks out to Blue Knights FLXVI.
