To the Lumzy Family,
I am sadden over our lost but heaven's gain of this truly anointed woman of God. She was in a class all her own. Quita ministered to me more than I think she knew. She enouraged my heart and gift of song. She had spoken to me about singing with her on a number of occasions. While it was never meant to be I was truly honored by it. She was truly special and made me laugh. A great voice silenced but never forgotten. I will truly miss her in my heart!
May God continue to strengthen the family.
Love,
Pie

She possessed one of the most powerful voices of all times. I had the privilege of hearing the Lumzy Sisters many years ago in Huntsville, Alabama at the WEUP Auditorium. When they sung "Tell Heaven" I was hooked. Now she can "Tell Heaven" in person. May God bless and console the family in the days to come.

I am saddened by the passing of this dear sister. I have enjoyed, loved and sang her music for years. Rest knowing that she's singing in that heavenly choir now. And just like her song "Precious" she was precious to us all. I met her once in 1986 and I fell in love with her music. She will forever live on in her music and in our hearts.

To the Lumzy Family,
Our loss of Quita is truly Heaven's gain. I have truly enjoyed each and every CD of the Lumzy Sisters. Quita's voice always has stirred my spirit up and the entire group of sisters are annointed. I met you all at Ecclessia Outreach Ministries here in Florida and was able to personally speak with you. You sang this song from your first CD and it just raised the service to a new level. I know that Quita is adding to Heaven's choir and has already taken her lead role in the choir. Though our hearts are heavy, I know that the Lord will lighten our burdens because Quita is truly at home. Family, continue to look up, God is right there with you. Brenda and all the sisters, Quita can now "Tell Heaven", that she's home!
I love each of you dearly!!!

I would like to say that a great and awesome person that I LOVED very much will be missed. She was a great friend and we had great times together whenever she came to Montgomery Alabama. She was a woman of God that could preach as well as she could sing. She loved her family dearly and she told me alot of great things about her sibilings. Her daughter was her heart, her mom and dad was her idoles. We wanted her to stay here, but God knows best. With Deepest Sympathy,

To the Lumzy Family, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Although I am not there in the physical, I am there in spirit. I came to know you all many years ago as my mother, my sisters, and I were traveling near and far to hear some good ole gospel singing. My sister, Andrea who is like family to you all immediately feel in love as soon as Quita opened her mouth. It was unbelievable, the range and tone of her voice. It made you wonder if she had something placed in her vocal chords. And Doris she wasn't far behind but I never heard anyone sound like that, she's truly an original. I still remember back in the late 90s early 2000s my sisters had traveled down to Grenada Ms for one of their shows, I couldn't go at with them but my mother and I went later. We rode on their green tour bus and meet some of their other relatives. However, as we where getting dressed on their bus for the show that Saturday night. I got my dress out and it was way too short. It was a dry clean only dress and my mom had washed it and I didn't look at it before we left. Brenda said no way honey you can't wear that and she gave me a gray pant suit to wear because I didn't have anything else and we were close in size. After the show I was going to give it back but she said that's a gift from me. I still have it to this day, can't wear it because I have lost about 40lbs. since then but, it has great sentimential value to me. My sisters have traveled near and far with you all. I mean way down in the delta areas of Ms., as well as NJ. Brenda, I hope you enjoyed the caramel cakes that I sent. I sent them because about a month or so ago Quita called Andrea and had her to call for the ingredients to make the icing and about two weeks later she called back for it again because she had misplaced it. I told her if I had to give it to her again there would be a fee (LOL) and she said some smart remark. She didn't know that I was thrilled that she wanted it and happy that it turned out well enough for her to want it a second time. At first I truly didn't understand why my sisters were so attached to strangers but I know realize that you were never strangers because you treated them like family and you can't tell Andrea that she isn't a Lumzy. We love you guys now and forever. Last but not least somebody has had to give up their seat in the heavenly choir because Quita has arrived and she just wasn't made to be a backup singer but indeed a lead vocalist. She's probably looking back at them telling them to come on or I am going to leave you. Show Out my sister!!!!!!!!!!! Please leave a seat for me...........

I am very saddened by the news of Quita's death. To the Lumzy & Wiggins family, I grew up listen to the Lumzy Sisters and tried to sing just like Chequita, but some how I just could not mimick the awesomeness and annointedness that was her voice. Her sound was strong and unique. It was inspiring to me to see a group of women, not to mention sisters, that were unified and were a blessing to so many people. I grew up in a small Mississippi town called Scooba and the Lumzy Sisters were no stranger in our house. She will be greatly missed. God bless you and your families.

On behalf of The Windy City SpiritualaireS of Chicago, Illinois, we extend our deepest sympathy to the Family and Friends of our dear friend and Spiritual Sister in Christ - Evangelist Chequita Lumzy-Wiggins.
As a guest vocalist on our Live In Bama CD on the song - God Will Take Care of You with Pastor Jonathan Tucker; Evangelist Lumzy-Wiggins helped our ministry achieve a greater level because of her willingness to share her amazing talent with us and the world. That song is still in rotation on radio stations throughout the country even today.
In the coming months - a new project that features Evangelist Chequita Lumzy-Wiggins reunited with The Windy City SpiritualaireS will be released that features a new song written by Pastor Jonathan Tucker entitled - Thank You For Being Patient! Her vocals and the testimony that she shares within the song are powerful and very anointed. An unfinished version of the song is posted at www.myspace.com/TheWindyCitySpiritualaireS for you to hear for yourself.
Evangelist Lumzy-Wiggins touched and even now through her music with The Lumzy Sisters, The Windy City SpiritualaireS, the late Tommy Ellison & The Singing Stars, and others continues to touch many lives. She has made a mark in our ministry and in the Gospel Music Industry as a whole that will never be erased.
Rest In Peace Evangelist Chequita Lumzy-Wiggins...we will always remember you and we know that God Will Take Care of You!
Peace and many blessings,

We extend our sincere condolences to the Lumzy family.
We pray that these words from 1 Thessalonians 4 be of comfort to you during this very difficult time and in the months and years ahead.
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Hello my name is Shanterol Baker from Iron city Georgia. I loved chequita with all of my heart. I used to go to Birmingham Alabama just to see her sing at the quartet convention. She was the baddest singer in the quartet industry. I am praying for her families strength. rest in peace Quita. Ilove you from Shan Baker & the Angels of Harmony.

We are so sorry to hear about your family's loss. Chequita was like a sister to us. We will all dearly miss her. We know this is the road that we must take, for flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." May you find peace in your hour of sorrow, and may the Lord continue to bless and keep you in the center of His will. We all love you, and we will keep you in our prayers.
With our deepest condolences,

I remember Chequita briefly. I knew her through my long lost friend Fannie Holmes. Fannie and I worked together in the 70's and I would go to her home. That's where I met Chequita. I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to her family and to Fannie.

To the Family of Quita Lumzy-Wiggins. I met Quita around the age of 13 in Alabama at Boughoma Baptist church and I have been singing her songs ever since and still do to this day!!
Words cannot express the loss that you all feel being with someone so long and then loosing them is something to deal with. I know that each of you are dealing with loss in their own special way. To her Family and to all who has been loved and touched by I pray for our strength and power in God. And that we may adpot what she stood for and how she love God

During your time of sorrow, it is my prayer that God's love overshadows you and that He gives you comfort and supernatural joy. Quita will be missed tremendously for she has impacted the lives of many in a positive way as well as made so many of us laugh. Be encouraged family and continue this life with the Lord finding relief in knowing that Chequita doesn't have to suffer any longer. I wish that I could be there with you, but know that I am praying continually for you. Rest in the arms of the Father for He cares deeply for you. August(Shorty)
