Cheryl Dwight-Dempsey Obituary

Cheryl Anne Dwight-Dempsey

AGE: 57 •

Cheryl Anne Dwight-Dempsey, 57, passed away suddenly after a brief illness on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. After high school, she worked as a plumber for her father with Harry Dwight & Son Plumbing & Heating. She was one of the first female plumbers in the area, and was featured in an article in the Asbury Park Press. She then worked at Earle Naval Base, where she met her husband, Joseph Dempsey. They had a daughter, Danielle Elizabeth, who was the love of their life.

Cheryl loved to dance. If there was music playing, she was dancing. She had quite a sense of humor, and you knew she was in the room by her distinct laughter. She loved the summer months where you would find her at the pool with her grandson, who she loved dearly, working on her tan.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joe Dempsey and her father, Harry Dwight. She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Patrick; grandson, Joey Patrick; mother, Bettie Dwight; sisters, Pat Stoll, Reenie Dwight and JoAnne Dwight; brothers and their wives, Bill & Sue Dwight and Keith & Marisol Dwight; step-daughters and their families, Shannon White and Kristin McCabe, and many nieces and nephews.

All services are private. A family memorial service is planned for the near future.

Although I didn't know Cheryl as well as most did, I remember her fondly, as I do the rest of the Dwight family. She was just a little girl during the days when I spent so much time at your house with Pat. My heart breaks for all of you with the sudden loss of your beloved daughter, sister, cousin, mother, grandmother and friend, Cheryl. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I could never forget the Dwight family and the many happy hours I spent with you.

I am deeply saddened and shocked by the news of Cheryl's passing. I send my deepest sympathy to her family, especially her daughter Danielle and grandson Joey, who she adored. Cheryl was one of my best friends while growing up; she was a true friend who would be there for you, through thick and thin. We shared our thoughts and feelings about everything in life, as teenagers growing up in the crazy '70s. As adults, we kept in touch all these years from opposite ends of the country. Whenever I would visit home (after moving out west), Cheryl and I always got together and had fun remembering the old days. I will always remember the good times with her, especially her great sense of humor. I feel very blessed to have been her friend, and she will always be in my heart. Rest in peace, my dear sweet friend... Until we meet again, your side-kick, Joy
