AGE: 75 • Forked River
It is with the saddest of hearts that I announce the passing of my truest love.
Daniel Denton Simpson passed away on Monday, August 21st, 2017 with family by his side. He was 75 years old. Born January 26th, 1942 in Elizabeth, NJ he lived for a brief time in North Arlington, NJ but spent his childhood in Ocean Grove.
Daniel was a career military man who first joined the service in 1960 directly out of high school. While in the Navy he decided that after his service time was up he would join the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. For 39 years he served his country with pride and honor. Daniel belonged to the Lacey Twsp. First Aid Squad for many years. He was also a Past Chief and Life Member of the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department. Once retired from the Air Force, Daniel worked as a Class I Special Officer for the Lacey Twsp. Police Dept. for 9 additional years.
Danny is survived by his wife Debra Simpson, Daughter Diamond Frandsen (Husband Robert Frandsen), Son Christopher P. Simpson, Grandson Christopher P. Simpson Jr. and his beloved four legged pal "Woody". Some of his favorite past times include spending time on his wooded property in upstate NY and to watch the wild ponies while visiting Chincoteague Island Va.
Funeral services will be held privately and under the arrangement of Riggs Funeral Home, Forked River. In lieu of flowers a contribution in Daniel's name can be made to The Rotary Club of Forked River.

I worked with Danny in the 170th engine shop and he was a great mentor and friend. Although I have not seen or spoken with him recently I am deeply saddened to read of his passing. Many of my military memories include him. Thoughts and prayers to is family during this difficult time.

Deb & Family, I'm so sorry for your loss, I've known Dan for 30+ years and he was a great guy. I remember when he & Gary were in the Fire Co. right around the time that I joined and Dan was Ass't. Chief and I remember Gary urging him to run for Chief, which he did. Lots of years have gone by but I'll always remember him. RIP Dan, say Hello to Gary, Father John, DJ, Kevin and all the rest. I know they're waiting for you.

I grew up living next door to Dan in the late 50's in Ocean Grove, 34 Olin Street.. Four years older than me he was like a big brother to me. He took me to high school games and was my best buddy. Over the years all contact was lost. Thank you Dan for many great memories and your friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
