David Cutts Obituary

David Eastman Cutts

AGE: 73 • Lakewood

David Eastman Cutts passed away on January 13th at his Lakewood home after a lengthy and courageous battle with Mesothelioma, a form of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Dave was surrounded at his time of passing by his devoted wife Barbara and their 3 children David, Dawn and Debra.

Dave was born on March 10th 1941 in Englewood, NJ, second child of Richard and Dolores Cutts. He spent his youth in Englewood, NJ and York, Maine (summers) with his siblings Richard, William, Thomas, Nancy and Robert. His aspirations to be in a rock and roll band gave way to a Bachelor's degree in English from Villanova and eventually a Master's from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Dave was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps, from February 1962 to February 1965 serving in Vietnam. He worked as a writer/editor, and eventually editorial director for Troll Associates in Mahwah, NJ for over 25 years. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who always put the needs of his family above his own. He rarely sat still, and could often be found working outside, reading or sailing...his true passion. He was the Commodore of the Fairways sailing club for several years prior to his illness.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; his siblings Richard, William, Nancy and Robert; his 3 children, David and his wife Karen, Dawn and her husband Mike, and Debra; his 6 grandchildren Stephen, Thomas, Jared, Sarah, Joshua and Megan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dolores, and his brother Thomas.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the D'Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:30AM at the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. Interment will take place Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 3PM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) 1317 King Street Alexandria, VA 22314 877-363-6376 www.curemeso.org.

We are all deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. We remember him from the days when he and Barbara were dating. Much as we want to do so, it will not be possible for us to come down from Maine due to illness and the infirmities of old age. We send our deepest sympathy to Barbara and all of the family.
