David Harrington Obituary
Neptune - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the Pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church of Asbury Park, NJ, The Rev. David "Dave" Neely Harrington, 58 of Neptune, who journeyed to his heavenly home on September 2, 2019. David was raised in Atlantic Highlands and was a great basketball player in high school and college. He faithfully served at his church and as the Chaplain of Pastoral Care at JSUMC. Visitation will be Saturday September 14th at 9 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 pm at Paramount Theatre, 1300 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park. Interment will be Monday September 16th at 11 am at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls. Full obituary and condolences available online at www.LawsonFuneralService.com

Even after this time has passed that my Beloved Pastor, has gone to his heavenly home, i still can't believe that Pastor, Harrington is not here with us. His generous spirit still remains in my heart and mind gone but never forgotten.

A life taken to soon. He was just a joy to be with. Majority of the time he walked around with a smile & a passing wave. When he had time to stop & talk, he did. He always asked me about my health. My wife & I still mention his name. He is a tough act to follow!!

Rev, what an absolute shock. I was devastated when I heard the news of your passing. I knew the first time I saw you, before we ever spoke, that you were a man of God. You had the light and the glory of God emanating from you.
You were the first man I met who spoke with such power and conviction of the LORD. I'm grateful for the healing you gave me through Jesus Christ, for teaching me how to claim the power of the Holy Spirit, for praying with me when I was in the hospital, and for being my friend. Remember me telling you that you have the ear of God? Well, I was right, because He healed me.
To the Reverend's family and congregation - I hope you will take comfort in knowing that Rev is safe at Home with the LORD, and he continues to pray with God for a safe return for each and every one of us, and that we bring as many souls Home with us as possible.
My life is so much better having known the Rev for the short time I did, and I look forward to seeing him again on the Last Day.

Dear Sister,Harrington and Family i don't have enough words to express my sympathy to you and Ivy,Seth and the Good Hope Baptist which has and always be my Church home,i may be far away but you and Rev.Harrington have always been in my heart,sorry i could not make it home for the funeral can't fly right now but holding you in my heart and prayers. I have met people here in Texas at my Church here that felt like they knew Rev. Harrington because i had asked them to keep him in Prayer and always talking about him,i am so sad i always remember him saying Sis.Peaches never will forget him.

To the Harrington family, Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal! On behalf of Pastor Kevin L. Bullock and the Payne Chapel AME Church family, we extend our deepest condolences and commend you to the God of all comfort. Brother Joe and Sister Cornelia Willis, Payne's faithful members, we are lifting you in prayer. We are confident however, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Angels in Heaven are rejoicing at Rev. Harrington's arrival. When you lose a love one it seems as if the dark days linger. BUT, remember Jesus is the bright and morning star and illuminates even our darkest days. Keep looking towards Jesus and He will embrace you with His light. Pastor rest in the Masters Arms. I am still stunned about the news of your passing. One thing is for sure you are with your heavenly Father. God bless you and thankful to have sat under your teachings for 23 yrs at Good Hope Baptist Church. Awesome man of God. We were so blessed to have you as our Shepherd for so many years. No matter where you were in a room and heard his laugh & voice, without looking, you knew the good Reverend had arrived. My wife & I looked forward to seeing him at JSUMC. We both volunteer & for a while he served on the days we worked.
Our neighbor had open heart surgery & was depressed, needed to talk to someone. That someone was
Reverend Harrington. Our neighbor & his wife could not say enough about how uplifting was the time they spent together. My comment....that's what he does!
We will always remember him as a good & caring person. And by the way......a great sense of humor.
