Dianne Alvarez Obituary
AGE: 61 • Woodbridge
Dianne Alvarez passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 61 years old.
She was born in Perth Amboy and was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge Township.
Mrs. Alvarez was employed as Chief Secretary for the Woodbridge Township Board of Education for the past 29 years.
She was predeceased by her father, Michael J. Egnot; and brother, Michael T. Egnot.
Surviving are her husband, Ferdinand Alvarez; children, Gerard, Christine and Thomas Tobia; mother and step father, Betsy and Mel Hospidor; sisters, Carol Grives, Lori Lacey and Lisa Steigler; sister in law, Debbie Krisak; step children, Jessica and Pedro Alvarez; grandchildren, Alexis Tobia, Nikolas Tobia, Jadalynn Gachette and Gianna Tobia; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Cremation will be private. Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

My name is James, and Dianne is my Aunt. She was such a huge part of my childhood, and allowed me to spend so much time with my amazing cousins. She always welcomed everyone new into her life with arms wide open, her laugh was something that would make you laugh, even though the joke that was told wasn't exactly funny. She was one of the warmest and caring people you would probably ever get the chance to know.
This is probably the time where I would talk about a memory I have with her, but there's so many to choose. The best memory I have is when I was really young, like 5-7 years old, driving down to Atlantic City with her and my cousin Christine, sitting in the way back of the minivan, and all of us singling wildly (and horribly) to "Turn Back Time" by Cher. And when the song was over, Christine and I would yell "Encore! Encore!" And she would replay it from the beginning and we started it all over again, all laughing at how horrible we sounded. Almost like rabbid cats.
The irony, I completely wish I could turn back time now, and have an encore performance with her. Aunt Dianne I love you, and I will miss you forever and ever.

My best memory with you guys and your mom is going to AC in the summers. Riding the roller coaster over and over again, running around just being free and stupid kids!! Keep all your memories close to your heart. She will always be watching over you all now!!!

I am so grateful that I became best friends with Christine years ago, because I was able to say that I knew you. You were my mommy #2. Dianne you were a wonderful woman who cared for so many. Your entire family, Christine, Tom and G are so lucky to have you as their mother and Freddie of course to have you as his wife. I will always remember our secret talks, the late nights of me and Christine sneaking back into the house after a long night out, my trip with you guys to Puerto Rico (which was so much fun except when u got bit by those fire ants!!) and all of the family parties/BBQS. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten, especially that contagious laugh of yours I can still hear. RIP mommy 2 and continue to watch over your loved ones they will always need you. XOXOX
