Elizabeth O'Rourke Obituary
Spring Lake Heights
Elizabeth A. O'Rourke of Spring Lake Heights passed away on Saturday, December 19 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick after a courageous 16 year battle against stage 4 cancer. Elizabeth was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and had lived in Newtown CT for 10 years before moving to the Jersey shore area 25 years ago. Elizabeth was a graduate of Western Connecticut University. She was the recreational director for Glen Hill Rehabilitation Center, Danbury CT, and the recreational director and an administrator for Bey Lea Assisted Living, Toms River, NJ. Elizabeth was an avid runner, loved the beach and a very giving person. Family was everything to her.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 16 years Joseph O'Rourke, a son Liam O'Rourke and a stepson Joseph O'Rourke. She is also survived by two sisters Maryellen Ryan and her husband Tim of Wall, Susan Neary of Brick, NJ, a brother-in-law Chris Spiro of Newtown, CT and she was predeceased by a sister Peggy Spiro; three nieces Jill Ryan, Susan Spiro and Cathleen Spiro; three nephews Thomas, Kevin and Timothy Spiro and their wives Jodi and Barbara; sister-in-law, Janet O'Rourke and two nephews, Richie and Patrick.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday December 23 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday December 26 at St. Rose Church, Belmar, NJ. Entombment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Common Ground Children's Grief Counseling, 67 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
