ELIZABETH KIRKMAN SINGH
LAKEWOOD
Elizabeth or as she preferred, Betty was born in the Bronx, NY, on Sept. 27, 1943, to Elizabeth Bergman and Oscar Swanby. She attended Preston High School (Bronx, NY) and won a scholarship to Good Counsel College where she majored in Biology. In 1968, Betty married George Kirkman and in 1971 they had a daughter, Lauren and in the following year a son, George Moore was born. After several years of being a stay at home Mom, Betty decided to go back to school and pursue a degree in Nursing. Upon graduation Betty went to work as a Nurse and then as a Regional Staff Nurse, for Division of Health & Human Services, for the State of New Jersey, retiring in 2002. Betty lived in Brielle and Marlboro before moving to Lakewood 3 years ago. Betty remarried Suhkvinder Virk Singh in August of 1997.
She is survived by her husband Suhkvinder Singh, her children Lauren Kirkman, George Kirkman, and Shana Davidson; her beloved brother and sister in law, Bill and Christine Swanby, in laws; Harry and Jamie Virk, and Roj and Gurmeet Virk;, as well as many beloved extended family members and friends, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 8, 2008, from 2-4 & 7-9pm, at D'Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, December 9, 10:30 am at Saint Mary of the Lake RC Church, Lakewood, NJ. Cremation will be private.

Liz, You were exceptionally funny and such a big heart you had with everyone, you came across. I will miss you. Lauren/ George, You are very fortunate to have had a wonderful Mother such as Liz, (Betty). May you both find comfort in you heart. God Bless!

Liz as I always called you. I am going to miss you more than I ever thought and Harry, Ariel, Estefany and Myself will always treasure the moments that we spent together. I will keep the love I have for you and remember you as you would have wished us to do so, I have to say, that I only had good memories to hold on too. God Bless us by bringing you into our life.
