Emmitt Worthy Obituary
AGE: 86 • Toms River
Emmitt Worthy Jr., 86, of Toms River, NJ., passed away on Tues, May 20, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Luvenia Holloman-Worthy of Augusta, GA.
Emmitt was the son of Emmitt Worthy, Sr. and Minnie Foster-Worthy. He was born on August 7, 1927 in Toms River, NJ. He graduated from Toms River High School South in 1944, where he was an outstanding football player. He attended the Newark Conservatory of Music before entering the Military.
He worked as a Logistics Manager at Lakehurst Naval Air Station before retiring after 35 years of dedicated service.
Emmitt was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish where he served as a Senior Usher. He was also a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St. Barnabas Council in Bayville, NJ.
He leaves behind 1 son, Emmitt Worthy III; 5 daughters, Sharon Richardson, Diane Worthy, Gail Richardson, Victoria Addison (Michael), and Joellyn Worthy; and 2 sisters, Estelle Doughitt and Minnie Smith.
Viewing will be 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Thurs, May 29 at Second Baptist Church, 2 First St, So. Toms River. Memorial Mass will be 11 am, May 30 at Saint Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Ave, Toms River. Interment will follow the Memorial Mass at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Flowers should be sent to Second Baptist Church on May 29. Memorial donations may be mailed to 21 Plus, 252 Washington St, Toms River, NJ 08755. Arrangements are being managed by James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, NJ.

Remembering Mr. Worthy on this day 2019. I will never forget what a gentleman he was. How he would come to Stockton University to visit Vicky, he would always include me when he took her to dinner. When my mother passed with cancer after Mrs. Worthy he was there for me. In all this wise and good, I see Mr. Worthy. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the family. Blessings to all

I have known Mr Worthy for over 38 years. He is the Grand-dad of my daughter Selena. Ever since I met him, he always made me smile and laugh, with a joke, or just his grin. He welcomed me in his home and heart and never made me feel uncomfortable and treated me as his family:~) You are missed, loved and always cherished by me and I look forward to seeing you again. Thanks for sharing your love. Until we meet again, I send you hugs and kisses! Sharon, your daughter in love:~)
