Grace Baum Obituary
AGE: 76 • Hazlet
Grace E. (Hoffman) Baum, 76, of Hazlet, passed away, Friday, March 11, 2016, at home. Born in Jersey City, she grew up in Rumson from 1947-1960. She graduated from Holy Cross Grammar School and Rumson/Fair Haven High School. She moved to Hazlet in 1964, where she was active in the community. Grace was a parishioner of St. Benedict Parish, where she was employed for 23 years as Director of Religious Education, retiring in December 1994. She volunteered as a CCD teacher; was a den mother with Cub Pack #130; a band parent for Raritan High School; and past president of Hazlet First-Aid Auxiliary. Grace was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Mary (Mahoney) Hoffman; three brothers, Henry "Hank" Hoffman; Walter "Wally" Hoffman and Richard Hoffman; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Eckart; and a nephew, Robert W. Hoffman.
She is survived by her beloved husband, J. Arnold Baum, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Al Bennett of Jackson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin A. and Lisa Baum of Lincroft; and James H. and Amie Baum of Sea Bright; three brothers and sisters-in-law, George J. and Faye Hoffman of Wilmington, NC; Robert T. and Jane Hoffman of Rumson; and Joseph and Lynn Hoffman of Red Bank; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Hoffman and Michelle Decker; one cherished grandson, A.J. Bennett of Jackson; five cherished granddaughters, Kacey and Cortney Rose Baum of Lakewood; AND Melanie, Cheyenne and Danielle Bennett of Jackson; a precious great granddaughter, Sophia Tyler; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday, March 14, 2016, from 2-4 & 6-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Tuesday, March 15, 2016, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Funeral Mass at St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel.
