Gregory Naekel Obituary
GREGORY A. NAEKEL
AGE: 44 MANCHESTER
Gregory A. Naekel, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, with his father, Fred, his two brothers, Glen and Peter, and sister, Tracy at his bedside. Gregory was active in the American Legion Post 0166 in Lakewood, where he served as vice commander at all the positions over the years prior to becoming commander for two years. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the 40 and 8, where he served as "Chef De Gare" and was a "Boys State" representative for years. Gregory will be missed at the post canteen, where his jokes and anecdotes kept things lively. He excelled at Jeopardy and was a fan of the N.Y. Jets.
He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis in 1997. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Gina and Susan; his ex-wife, Mary Ann; brother-in-law, Jeffery; and six nieces, Margaret, Sarah, Amanda, Carly, Lauren and Jessica.
An interment ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at St. Rose Cemetery, Freehold. There will be a memorial and repast at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at the post. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to "Boys State Legion Scholorship Program", 1256 River Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since we lost Greg. I still think of his laugh and the many, many great times we had together. Forever in our memories Greg - you are missed.

I met Greg when I was about 15 and from that time on he always made me laugh whenever I saw him. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I worked with Greg at Chaz Furniture in Freehold for many years. I will always remember Greg's smile and his sense of humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mr. Naekel, Glen, Pete, and Tracy - I'm so sorry. Greg will be missed by so many. His smile and laugh were such a fixture of my youth; I can't imagine him gone, so I can only imagine how you feel. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
