Harriet (Marie) Halleran Welch

Harriet (Marie) Halleran Welch, age 93 of Oceanport, passed away on, August 9, 2016 at Jersey Shore Care Center in Eatontown. Born in Atlantic Highlands she had lived in Oceanport most of her life. Marie was a retired telephone operator for NJ Bell for over 25 years, a member and past president of the Oceanport Ladies Auxiliary of the Oceanport Fire Department, a member of the Oceanport Seniors and SCAN and a parishioner of St. Dorothea's R.C. Church in Eatontown. Her past times included tap dancing, roller skating, bowling, playing cards, and her monthly bus trips with the Seniors to Atlantic City.

She was predeceased by her husband John T. Welch; her parents, Anna and Walter Halleran; two brothers, Patrick and Jack Halleran, and her sister and brother in law, Alice and Buddy Elmer. Marie is survived by her daughter Arlene, with whom she lived; her son Jack and his wife Susan; her grandchildren, Joseph and his wife Debbie and Jonathan and his wife Sarai and 7 great grandchildren, Evan, Anna, Demitri, Alex, Xavier, Jackson and Vincent.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12 from 5-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue (corner of Third Avenue) in Long Branch. Funeral Saturday 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass at St. Dorothea's Church in Eatontown. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
