Helen Isabel Latten Yanno, 94, of Palmer Twp., Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Palmer Twp., Pa., after a brief illness. She resided in New York City, N.Y., Freehold, and Toms River and lastly resided in Palmer Twp. for the last three years with her son and daughter-in-law, John and Eileen Yanno. She was born June 29, 1915 in New York City to the Adolphus Latten and the late Anna Slattery Latten. She was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters, Freehold. Jack and Helen were married on June 28, 1939 in New York City and celebrated 69 years together. She was a homemaker, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Enjoyed her family and friends, she loved reading and writing notes of encouragement to her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, James "Jack" Yanno, on Oct. 2, 2008; sister, Florence Brennan; great-grandson, Taylor Michael Yanno; daughter-in-law, Anna Maria Regina Yanno; nephew, William Brennan; and niece, Helen Brennan. Surviving are her sons, John Yanno and wife Eileen of Palmer Twp., and Thomas Yanno of Bradley Beach; 10 grandchildren, John Yanno of Brooklyn, N.Y., Eileen Washbourn, wife of Michael of Hillsborough, Theresa Scalzo, wife of Carl of Palmer Twp., Pa., Kathleen Walker, wife of Brent of Malvern, Pa., Rebecca Lozada, wife of Carlos of Wilson Borough, Pa., Patricia Brader, wife of Jared of Paoli, Pa., Elizabeth Biesanz, wife of Matthew of Winona, Minn., Melissa Turso, wife of Stephen of Alpha, Jessica Yanno of Bradley Beach, and Michael Yanno of Bradley Beach; 17 great-grandchildren, Emily, Nolan and Erin Washbourn, Brett, Paige and Maggie Scalzo, Owen and Ada Walker, Ethan, Arianna and Cayden Lozada, Shea and Bryn Brader, Andrew and Alexis Biesanz, Anna and Stephen Turso; nieces, Jean Brennan of Macon, Ga., and Mary Faith Abbuhl of Orange Village, Ohio; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 23 in the Finegan Funeral Home, 1837 Washington Blvd., Easton, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24 in St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Easton, Pa. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Palmer Twp., Pa.
