HERBERT CAHN
AGE: 92 RUMSON
Herbert Cahn, 92, of Rumson, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. He was born in Bradley Beach and was a life-long resident of Monmouth County. Mr. Cahn graduated from Monmouth College, served in the Signal Corps. in WWII, continued his service as a civilian in various engineering positions at Fort Monmouth and was a fellow of the IEEE. An outdoor enthusiast, Mr. Cahn loved gardening and swimming, and was well-known throughout the neighborhood for his twice-daily bicycle rides. His final tour of the neighborhood occurred last week.
Loving husband, brother, father and grandfather, he is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth; daughter, Susanna and her husband Victor Glass; son, David and his wife Linda Shriner-Cahn; daughter, Abby and her husband Tommy Anton; grandchildren, Jacob, Ephram, Jonathan, Zachary, Davy, Benjamin, Kayla, and Elliot; and his sister, Florence and her husband Ted Olkoski.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapel, 2130 Highway 35, Ocean Township. Memorial contributions may be made in Herbert Cahn's memory to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
