JAMES P. HENRY
AGE: 87 TINTON FALLS
James P. Henry, 87, of Tinton Falls, formerly of West Long Branch, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010. He was born in Queens, NY, the son of the late Patrick and Jessie Henry. During World War II he was a member of the US Army Air Corp. In February 1944 his plane was shot down over Germany and he became a prisoner of war. He was repatriated in September 1944 via the famous Gripsholm ocean liner. After the war he served as a Capuchin Brother who spent many years in Okinawa, Japan. Jim was also in the Merchant Marines until the mid seventies when he returned to the US and worked in the security departments at the Monmouth Park Race Track and the Meadowlands. Jim served as a Eucharistic Minister for Star of Sea Church for many years and family and friends knew him as Uncle Jim.
His brothers Joseph, John and Thomas and his nephew Peter D. Gil predeceased him. Surviving are his sister, Anne M. Gil of Tinton Falls, and his nieces and nephews, Patricia Donohoe, Mary Gifford, Joan Severino, Anne Marie Ryan, Edna Mason, James, Kenneth, Thomas and Brian Gil, Joseph and Patrick Henry and several grand nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Flock Funeral Home, 243 Broadway, Long Branch from 9:00 to 10:30 am A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church of Christ The King Parish, Second and Chelsea Avenues, Long Branch with interment to following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wall Street West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers contributions to The ARC of Monmouth, 1158 Wayside Road, Tinton Falls, and NJ 07712 would be appreciated.

I'm sorry I cannot be with you at this time. My Thoughts and Prayers are with all of you. I know how much I appricipated you for being with me when my mother passed. We have great memories of all the happy times we spent together as a family especially Thanksgiving and my college days eating at your hpuse.
