James "Herbie" F. Herdman

AGE: 67 • South Seaside Park, NJ

James "Herbie" F. Herdman, 67 of South Seaside Park, NJ passed away Friday June 3, 2016 in Livingston, NJ surrounded by his family after a short illness. Herb touched so many lives with his infectious ability to make everyone laugh and love to be around him. He was born in Orange, NJ and lived in Lake Parsippany for 53 years before moving to South Seaside Park in 2008 where he enjoyed becoming a part of this tight knit beach community. He was an electrician for local #164 and worked at Anheuser-Busch for most of his career. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time with family and friends from all over. He was also an expert skier and enjoyed many years of skiing with friends and family at our very special place Pico, Vermont. He was a past member of the Huntsville rod and gun club and is a member of the Parsippany Elks Lodge #2078 and the Loyal Order of the Moose #399 Ortley Beach, NJ.

Herb was pre deceased by his parents William and Lily Herdman.

Surviving is his wife of 44 years Marie "Susie" (Mulvanerton) Herdman; his loving sons Kevin Herdman and his wife Jessica of Seaside Park, NJ and William Herdman of Seaside Park, NJ; his grandsons Max and Liam who he loved so dearly; his siblings Thomas Herdman and his wife Janet of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and William and his wife Moyra of Newton, NJ and his sister Doris Baran and her late husband Tony of Pompano Beach, FL and many nieces nephews and extended family.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday June 8, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave. Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday June 9, 2016 at 10am at St. Catharine of Siena RC Church Seaside Park, NJ. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to: Area Six Special Olympics c/o Jeri Hickey 213 Newport Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com.

Family Members:
Pat and I are saddened by the death of Jim. He was a gentle giant who always expressed his concern and interest in our lives and the lives of our children. His abundant common sense pervaded his experiences and social associations. He was simply a great guy from next door. May he rest in peace.
