Jim and I met a few years ago during my first road trip to Clearwater to do eye exams on the Phillies and we became good friends right away. He was a great man, a loving man, a personable man, a kind man, a man you could count on.

The first time we met, our initial greetings and hellos turned into a 3 hour conversation in the back parking lot by the players' cars. Among the players who walked by us that day included Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Hunter Pence, Shane Victorino, Ryan Howard, Carlos Ruiz, Doc Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Cole Hamels to name a few. He knew every player's story. He knew their their wives, their kids, their pets, their cars, and their likes and dislikes. The players loved him. He got a hug from Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino.

They all stopped to give enthusiastic hellos to Jim and he introduced me to each and every player. I could immediately tell the kind of guy Jim was. He was the type of man people wanted to talk to and who people wanted to be around. I was no exception.

Over the course of the next few years, we spent hours talking at spring training and we kept in touch via text and would talk on the phone.

I wish I knew this picture we took a few months back would be the last moment I would spend with him. After we posed for this picture, he gave me a big bear hug and a pat on the back. I wished him well, and he smiled and said, "Thanks for being such an awesome friend Mike"

Jim, you were a big part of my life and I treasure the time we spent together.

Thank YOU for being an awesome friend and someone I will never forget.

I love you buddy.
