James Gardiner Theibault, "Poppy," 85, of Lakewood, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Brick Hospital with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Phoebe; brothers, Charles and Joseph Jr. and daughter-in-law, Robynn. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn and their sons, James Jr. of Largo, Fl, Glenn and his wife Cindy of Lakewood, Richard and his wife Stacy of Brick. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Tara, Rachael, Tyler, Elijah, Mylani and 4 great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.

Jim was born in Lakewood and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army from December 1944 through August 1946. He worked for his father-in-law, Willis Applegate as a mason and he went on to work for his brother, Joe at JJ Theibault Jr. Landscaping Design. He was employed at Lakehurst Naval Engineering Center when he retired in 1988. Most of his life Jim was a professional Jazz drummer, singer and entertainer. He was a member of the Musicians Union Local 399, a life time member of the American Legion Post 166, a member of the Christ United Methodist Church Lakewood, a life time member of Family Motor Coach Association, and a member of Twelfth Century Wagoneers. Jim and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor home. For twenty years they resided in Stuart, Florida during the winter. Jim was a man of many talents, he built his own home for his family. He dedicated his life to his family he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of life and his ability to make people enjoy life. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
