VAN BRUNT JR.
AGE: 65 EATONTOWN
James C. Van Brunt, Jr., 65, of Eatontown, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. He was an estimator for MSB Drywall in Long Branch for 11 years. Jim was born in Long Branch and was a longtime resident. He was a 1962 graduate of Long Branch High School and was on the baseball and soccer teams. He was also the athletic director and treasurer at I.A.M.A., and the co-founder and coach of the Long Branch Recreation Girls Softball League.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and James C. Van Brunt Sr. Surviving are his daughter, Dawn Van Brunt-Echevarria of Freehold Township; a son, James C. Van Brunt III of Brick, and their mother and her husband, Mary Ann and Jim Piantanida of West Long Branch; a sister, Nancy Van Brunt of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronald Van Brunt of Colorado Springs, Colo., Steven Van Brunt of Ft. Myers, Fla., and William and Amy Van Brunt of Lanoka Harbor; one granddaughter, Erica Mazza; five grandsons, Dylan Rivera, Jadan Echevarria, Daniel Echevarria, Christopher Van Brunt, and Luke Van Brunt; three nieces, Allison Bibbo, Tiffany Sheffield and Angie Van Brunt; and a nephew, Ricky Van Brunt.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 until the funeral service at 8:30 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. Memorial donations can be made to the Jim Van Brunt Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o I.A.M.A., P.O. Box 205, Long Branch, NJ 07740. To the Vanbrunt Family, I had the great pleasure to be a friend of your father from the time he played ball at Long Branch,and during the time I was a member of the I.A.M.A. I never saw anyone work so hard to help the IAMA in there projects like Jimmy did. He was truly a LONG BRANCH GUY. Love to all the Family
