James Zawacki Obituary

James P. Zawacki

Point Pleasant Boro - James P. Zawacki, 51, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side Sunday April 8, 2018. "Jimbo," as many lovingly will remember him, lost his courageous fight to adrenal cancer, but not before his beloved Eagles FINALLY won the Super Bowl. His favorite color to wear was "Eagle green," Eagles anything, and Sunday was no different.

Born June 29, 1966 to Z. Thaddeus and Gail A. Zawacki in Point Pleasant, Jim was raised in Holmdel, but returned to, and ultimately stayed at, "the beach" as a young adult, where he met the love of his life, Amanda. Jim was predeceased by his father in 1994, but is survived by his wife of 24 years, Amanda, their two sons, Justin (21) and Cullen (18), and his loyal chocolate lab, Booka. Jim is survived, as well, by his mother Gail, sisters Jill and Jane, brother Jack, and their families. Jim also leaves behind a long list of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and a special group of pop warner football players who were privileged to know him simply as "Coach."

Jim graduated from Holmdel High School in 1984, where most will remember him for his infectious smile, but also as "Mr. Do It All." Jim would smile his biggest smiles while sharing his love for football with his sons, coaching them on, and off, the field; and simply spending time with the family he adored. Jim also loved the game of golf, and was once an avid golf player, so leaving us during The Masters was nothing short of bittersweet.

Visitation will be held Friday April 13, 4-8p at O'Brien Funeral Home 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to "Karli's Angels" https://www.gofundme.com/karlis-angels. Coach Jim was an incredible role model for me as a little kid just starting football. He ignited my passion of the sport (along with his brother Jack) and I am proud to say because of them Im able to play college football. Thanks for all the memories and making a impact on my life thatll last forever.

To The Zawacki Family,
I am sorry to hear about Coach Jim's passing. He was a wonderful person and I'm sure will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

To Coach Jim,
Thank you for teaching me the fundamentals of the game of football,

Thank you for teaching me that it was not only about the individual effort but about how all of us played and supported each other as a Team,

And thank you for making me the player I am today and contributing to the person I have become,

Rest in Peace,

Gabriel Fattizzi
