Jay Harry Jenkins 91 of Leisure Village West, Manchester died Saturday February 28, 2015 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was associated with AT&T for 39 years and retired in 1985 as an engineering staff manager in Bedminster. He resided in Ridgewood for 25 years before moving to Manchester in 1986. He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, 1942-45 and served as Post Commander of the Hohokus-Ridgewood VFW and the Surgeon & Judge Advocate and Assistant Chaplin of the Leisure Village West VFW Post #7904 since 1986. From 1988-91, he was a Leisure Village West Trustee and chairman of numerous committees and was honored in 2003 with the Outstanding Volunteer Honor Roll Award. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the John D. McMahon Assembly, Toms River and a third degree Knight with Council #9134 in Leisure Village West and served as the St John's Parish Council treasurer for several years. He survived the passing of his wife, Wanda Sudak Jenkins in 2014 and his son Jay Jenkins of Santa Monica, CA in 2011. Surviving are his son, Wesley and his wife Kyle Bogertman of Austin, TX. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed. Visitation is Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is Friday 10 AM at St. John's Church, Lakehurst with interment to follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
