With a quick laugh and a knowing glance, Mr. Mapletoft played a ready and very supportive role in my younger years and in those of so many in our Broad Avenue community. He was one who never saw a neighbor's project that he did not want to help, or offer a tool and advice...and of course there was the ever-full garage refrigerator full of soda and beer for those looking to cool off afterwards. We all learn to make our path through this life at varying depths and times, and he was always there for me when I had a question that I was wrestling with. As he came to his end time on July 5th, the day after my mother's on July 4th, I am sure that she and the others who had earlier crossed over, greeted him warmly as he joined that wonderful bunch of Normandy folks. My love, thoughts and prayers go out to his extended family and to all of those who feel his absence.
