I, along with many others, was saddened to hear of the passing of Kenny Rogers. However, I feel fortunate that as a member of RHS Class of '76, that we were able to share some time together recently. It is a perfect memory to keep of Kenny's fantastic sense of humor and his outstanding personality. Although I never had Mr. Rogers as a teacher or a coach, I was always amazed at how he always remembered me and singled me out for a quick conversation or a clever quip. He had a way of making everyone in his presence feel close and included in his life. We will all miss Kenny's big laugh, his clever sense of humor and most importantly, his humanity.

Dear Mrs. Rogers,
There are no words to express how I felt when I heard that Mr. Rogers passed away. He was my favorite teacher at RHS and I'm glad I got the opportunity to tell him that last year at the 1976 RHS class reunion! He made learning fun, but more importantly, he cared about teaching. We played a lot of "score that basket" and it worked. I was looking forward to seeing both of you again this year at the 1975 class reunion next month! As promised, I sent an email invite to Mr. Rogers in December. I'm hoping he did see the email and knew how much we wanted him to join us! He was the best!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May he rest in peace.

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Rogers. He was a tremendous influence to me. I had a passion for basketball and we shared many sports stories. He use to come watch our games in high school (90-94). I have been serving in the United States Coast Guard for past 12 years and he is one teacher you would tell stories about to friends. There are certain teachers that stick with you for life and he was sure the top of the class! My thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends!

Dear Patti and family,
I will forever remember the time I spent with Kenny in the Raritan carpool during the mid-seventies. Not a day went by without a funny story being told by Kenny to brighten up our lives. He was a true friend and I will always cherish the memories I have of him.
May God in all of his infinite glory give you the strength to deal with his untimely loss.

Dear Mrs. Rogers,
I was very saddened to hear of your husband's passing. I only knew him briefly when he was "courting" you while you were the field hockey coach at Raritan. I can still picture his striped jacket. I never had a class with him- but he was always there to listen and share a laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

Rogers Family,
Like others, I was terribly saddened at the new of Kenny's passing. I had the privilege of working with him for a number of years at Monroe Township High School. He was always consistent with his pleasant rapport, funny wit and conscientiuous professionalism that benefitted his students and colleagues. Furthermore, I will never forget the pride and love he always conveyed when speaking about his loved ones. God bless all of you during this difficult time.
With sincere condolences,

To the Rogers family: My deepest condolences go out to you and your family. I had Mr. Rogers as my sociology teacher in 2001 at MTHS, and I will never forget what a wonderful teacher and soul he was. I was in his classroom when the 9/11 events happened, and I remember him being a comforting, warm human being who wanted to touch the lives of his students. His sense of humor, personality, and kindness radiated from him through his teaching. May God bless you all.

Mr. Rogers: The first two words came to mind once I learned of your passing is "Thank You". Thank you for being one of the most positive influences in my life, and countless others who you taught and coached. You were our coach, teacher and friend. The reaction from everyone I spoke to who played for you was one of shock and sorrow. I am so grateful that you and Patti came to our reunion so that we had a chance to reconnect and talk about the good old days at Raritan. You were one of the very best teachers that Raritan High School ever turned out. Some of the words and phrases used to describe you among my classmates of '76 are: fun, had or made time to chat with me, absolutely one of the best, character and class, i think of him often...great guy, great man, favorite teacher, and one of my favorite descriptions was: engaging. You took genuine interest in people's lives, and you were sincere. What impressed me most from my classmates was the reactions from students who never had you as a coach or teacher. In their words, they were shocked, saddened, speecless and had nothing but great things to say about you. I hope you now know how many lives you touched. I pray that God gives your family peace and strength in knowing your job was well done while here on earth. I am saddened that we will not get that chance to meet again, as we discussed at the reunion, I am, however, grateful that you were a very big part of my life and the student body at Raritan High school. Rest in Peace, Mr Rogers and thank you for all that you have done for us.

I will always remember watching Saturday morning cartoons with Mr. Rogers when I was a kid, and he'd take us for candy at the concession stand at the Raritan Rockets basketball games. Kenny always had a smile on his face and brought laughter into the room. He will be so dearly missed. - Nicky Ryan (John Ryan's youngest daughter)

Kenny was an excellent and dedicated high school teacher, devoted family man, and a natural comic and storyteller! What fond memories he blessed us with, both as our colleague for many years at Monroe Township High School, and as an "official member-in-good-standing" of our retirees' "Breakfast Club." Kenny was a wonderful man, and we are deeply saddened by his untimely passing. Our sincerest condolences to Patty, KC, Karen, and your families and friends.

I first met Kenny when we were JV basketball coaches, he at Raritan and me at Sayreville. That was about 40 years ago. We then became neighbors in Stonehedge in Toms River in 1979. I always thought of him as the "mayor" of Stonehedge. He was a great guy, husband, father and grandfather. My family and I have many happy memories of him. God Bless you Ken.
