Kevin McGinley Obituary
Spring Lake Heights - Kevin F. McGinley, 67, of Spring Lake Heights passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 6, 2018.
Born in County Donegal, Ireland, Kevin came to the United States at age 8 and had lived in Newark before moving to West Orange. As a resident of West Orange, Kevin was honored to serve as the Deputy Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1996. He was an Operating Engineer with I.U.O.E. Local # 68, West Caldwell for 35 years, retiring in 2010.
He has resided in Spring Lake Heights for the past 20 years and was a proud member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, Belmar and the Giblin Association of West Caldwell.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents William and Alice (nee Armstrong) McGinley.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years Maureen (nee McGovern) McGinley, his beloved children, Kevin B. McGinley of Spring Lake Heights, Shannon Keogh and husband Kevin of Cranford, and Kerrie McDonnell and husband John of Brick, his 3 brothers, Sean and wife Pat of Neptune, Patrick and wife Mary of Parsippany, and Liam and wife Judy of South Carolina and his 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Catharine RC Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Committal will be private at the convenience of his family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105 in his memory. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home at the visitation.
