Leo F. Carroll, Jr.

AGE: 79 • Bridgewater

Leo F. "Buddy" Carroll, Jr., 79, died on March 12, 2014 surrounded by those he loved. He was born in Somerville, NJ on January 10, 1935 to his dear parents Margaret Casey and Leo F. Carroll, Sr. Buddy was a retired Lieutenant from the Raritan Borough Police Department where he serviced for 25 years. He was a member of the PBA local #82; a former member of the Somerville Elks; and a communicant of St. Ann's Church. Buddy was a devoted husband, a loving father, a dear brother and brother-in-law, a loving uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed making stainglass lamps and he made the stainglass window at the Raritan Firehouse. Buddy was a kind, caring, generous person, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Buddy is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara A. "Bobby" Sena Carroll of 59 years; his loving children, Bart Carroll and wife Karen of Flemington, Judy Capuano and husband Tom of Bridgewater; a dear brother, Thomas Carroll and wife Kathy of Manville; a loving sister, Peggy Yourkowski of Manville; five wonderful grandchildren, Jill Sohler and husband Jeff, Andi Capuano, Alicia, Amanda, and Shannon Carroll; a dear brother-in-law, Bart Sena and wife Charalena; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Bongiovi Funeral Home, 416 Bell Avenue, Raritan, NJ 08869 (908-725-1887). Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 starting with a viewing from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Ann's Church, 45 Anderson Street, Raritan, NJ 08869. Entombment in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, (1-800-272-3900), [email protected].

Buddy Carroll was one of the finest police officers I have ever had the pleasure of serving with. He had great common sense, wisdom and an amazing sense of humor.
As a young officer, the stories he would tell and his love of food would bring a smile to my face.
