Linda Driver Obituary
AGE: 65 • Neptune
Linda Cason Driver, 65, of Neptune, NJ passed away on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. She was born on Dec. 20, 1948 in Neptune, NJ to the late Clifton and Sarah Cason.
Linda was a teacher at Asbury Park High School in Asbury Park, NJ before retiring in 2004. She also was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Linda was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church, Asbury Park, NJ where she served on the Trustee Board and was a member of the Crescent Club.
She was predeceased by her brother, Clarence Cason; and sisters, Geraldine Perry and Gloria Baker.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, John Driver, Jr.; daughter Janeen Weedon (Driver) of Neptune, NJ; sons, John 'Jay' Driver and wife, Myra Driver of Hamilton, NJ, and Jaron Driver of Neptune, NJ; niece, Kiana Anderson of Neptune, NJ; 6 grandchildren, Aaron, Jayda, Destiny, Jayson, Jalen, and Nyla; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visiting hours will be from 10 am Sat., Oct. 18, until the time of the funeral at 12 pm at Second Baptist Church, 124 Atkins Ave., Asbury Park. Interment will follow the service at White Ridge Cemetery, Eatontown. James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements. I met Linda 48 years ago at VUU in the bathroom of Hartshorn Hall. I also met 4 other young ladies during that time and we became very good friends then and still are now. Even though Linda was the youngest of the group she was the mother figure.... Always telling us you shouldn't be doing this or doing that.Guess what sometimes we listened. Linda was one of the nicest people I have ever met. We all have precious memories that will last forever. We are all heart-broken but Linda will live in our hearts forever. 48 years ago I met Linda at VUU! She was my roommate during our stay at VUU, we refer to each other as Roomie.
She was my dear sister-girl friend. There were five of us they named us the Jive Five, Linda C, Linda W, Chris, Keretha and me Vernetta! Words can not express how much I will miss my "Roomie". My heart is so broken, but I have my memories, never was there any harsh words between any of us. Linda was our voice of reason. I loved her so much

Jay, my sincere condolences to you and your family...Mrs. Driver, your mom, acted on my mother's behave on countless occasions...She always made me feel like part of the family, and I will always be indebt to her for that...My mother, Joan, wasn't able to come to a lot of my games and be there in support, since she worked in New York, and was a single parent doing the best that she could at the time, but your mother was always there stepping right on in, giving her love, knowledge, support, and wisdom, as if I were her own. I will truly miss your mother, she was a special woman, not just to me, but for countless of others, by being a part of the Educational System for many years in Monmouth county. She will be severely missed and her legacy will live on not only in the hearts of people of Asbury Park and Neptune Twp., but for many others, as well that she so happily touched.
Again, my sincerest condolences to you and your immediate and extended family, my brother. She will be severely missed, I'm so sorry, I will not be able to make the services on Saturday, as I'm the guest speaker for this workshop this weekend, but I wanted to put into words, what your mother meant to me, and I'm sure I'm speaking for many others.
In closing, I'm here brother when you are ever looking to talk or for what ever you need.

Mrs. Driver (I call you that because if I call you Aunt Linda you will look at me like I'm crazy, lol). Thank you for being you and loving me always. Nothing and no one can take your place. You were there for me for EVERYTHING I have been through good or bad. I love you with all I have and all that I am. I would not be who I am without you. I will always remember you for being one of the sweetest teachers I had in high school. I remember you calmly saying, "Ms. Gena you cannot look at that keyboard". What a Fellowship, what a joy divine!! My friend of 61 years - we shared such laughs, now sweet Jesus wipes away my tears. APHS was so very dear to us. We were proud to be such an influence on so many lives! Our teen club, the Persian Kittens, oh such joy! There is not enough space to express our connection.
