Linda Shadel Obituary
AGE: 67 • Wall Twp.
Linda Shadel, 67, of Wall Township passed away suddenly on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013. Linda grew up in Rutherford, NJ, where she attended Rutherford Public Schools and as part of her love of music, learned to play the organ, piano and many other musical instruments. After high school, Linda attended Montclair State University where she earned her Bachelors in Music Education. Directly following, Linda moved to the Wall/Belmar area and taught elementary music in the Neptune school system and where she continued to teach for over 32 years. Linda went on to earn her Masters Degree in Music Education from Trenton State University during this time. In addition to teaching, Linda also was the principal organist & choir director at a few different churches over the years starting at the Rutherford Congregational Church when she was 12 years old and finally for the Saint James Episcopal Church in Bradley Beach, NJ at which she directed and played for 33 years. Linda also greatly enjoyed teaching private piano lessons. Linda was much loved by virtually everyone who knew her: her family, friends, students, choir and church members.
Linda is survived by her brother and his wife, William Shadel & Barbara Thomson; her nieces, nephews and their spouses: Marietta Shadel, Peggy & John Salierno, Joseph Shadel, Elizabeth & Thomas Hughes, William Paul Shadel and Steven & Theresa Messineo. Linda was also a much beloved great-aunt of all of her grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A memorial service for Linda will be held on Tuesday, August 13 at 7:00pm at Saint James Episcopal Church, 605 4th Avenue, Bradley Beach, NJ 07720. All who were close to Linda are invited to attend. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Popcorn Park Zoo, P.O. Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731 or the Saint James Episcopal Church Music Department. I am so sad to read this news about Linda. I sang in the St. James choir for many years and she was a great inspiration to me. She is leading a beautiful choir in heaven now.

We were blessed to be able to share Linda's beautiful Memorial service Tuesday with all those who loved her and meet many of her friends and family. Our young daughter is still devastated over the loss of her beloved piano teacher for these past 6 yrs. She had become part of us. May she share in the joy of the Lord's music forever. Ms. Linda Shadel was my piano teacher for 10 years, and she was the person that helped me develop my passion for music, because her passion for music was always there. I love you always, and you will be missed Ms. Linda.

We worked together for many years, and continued our friendship after retirement until she was taken by the good Lord. There wasn't a day that went by that we weren't in touch. We will miss her and the countless good times together. She will be in our thoughts and prayers for ever- and perhaps we will meet again in God's country where good musicians are always appreciated and loved.

I loved Ms. Shadel. I went to Green Grove Elementary school during the 80's and looked forward to her visits for music. I especially remember how much I loved her perfume and how kind she was. As an educator myself, I am truly grateful for experiencing her teaching.

Dear Shadel Family...
I taught with Linda "many moons ago " in the Neptune Twp. Public School District. I can still see her sitting on her stool in front of the classroom with guitar in hand. Linda was one who didn't need to teach the students by using a music book...it simply came natural to her. Linda's melodious voice will forever ring in my ear.
May Linda rest in peace and may God's Arm of Comfort forever be wrapped around Linda's family.

Ms. Shadel was my music teacher over 20 years ago, and I still vividly remember how much joy she brought to my life. What a wonderful woman she was. Thank you, Ms. Shadel! RIP.

Ms. Shadel led our children's choir back when I was a girl at St. Paul's UM Church in Ocean Grove and I still remember how nice she was and how we sang our hearts out! She was a beautiful person inside and out.

I am so sorry for her family's loss. Linda was the best Music Teacher that I knew. She would greet my class with such enthusiasm.
