Margaret Shortridge Obituary
Aberdeen - Mrs. Margaret Shortridge (born Wolfe), 96, of Aberdeen, NJ passed away on Tuesday, April 13 in Bayshore Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William Shortridge. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Coffin and son-in-law John Coffin, Aberdeen, her grandson William Coffin and his wife Mallory, Marlboro, and two great-grandkids Brayden and Everly Coffin to whom she was lovingly known as "Great Meemaw". Last but not least, she is survived by her pet cat Dash. Margaret was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Middletown, NJ.
Margaret grew up in Lathrop, California and graduated from The College of the Pacific . She worked for several years as a middle school teacher before starting a family. After her daughter was raised, Margaret prepared taxes for H&R Block and as part of her own business for several years.
When her grandson was school age Margaret would help him play video games. You know, "homework". Her particular favorites included Metroid, Super Mario Brothers, and Battletoads.
Margaret was a talented piano player and would often accompany her daughter Nancy for various church performances, and provided musical accompaniment for many children's musicals at church. Until her vision failed her, Margaret enjoyed sewing, knitting and embroidery.
For many years Margaret was an avid and active gardener. The past several years Margaret's gardening has been more of a senior executive supervisory role with help from her next door neighbor Philomena.
In the past several years it has taken a village to take care of Margaret. Margaret and her family express great appreciation to her able care team of Eyvone, Pam, and Alyssa.
There will be a public visitation period on April 24 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, 70 Kings Highway, Middletown.
